Let’s Try This Again, Shall We?

The big news of the week is of course, the province is going to emerge from lockdown this month. At first glance, these protocols the province is describing seems to be fairly reasonable. The Premier wanted to project a sense of hope, by saying there is light coming through the clouds.

At the same time Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health said this:

On the federal scene, Federal Procurement Minister Anita Anand is saying our shortage of vaccines will soon be over:

If we take everything the above three sources of stated as true, then we need to come together like never before. The last few months have degenerated into a finger pointed blame fest. Each trying to short change the other as to blame for our current woes. Here’s the thing, we can spend the next few months finger wagging and blaming each other again, or we can work together.

We aren’t out of the woods, and according to health officials the different variant strains of the coronavirus are here and thriving in our communities. At the same time we cannot stay locked down forever. Vaccines are arriving and we will soon begin ramping up that program once again. Regardless, it will take time to vaccinate our population. Until that happens we need to protect ourselves and buy ourselves time until we are out of the woods.

Now more than ever, we need some of that good ol’ Canadian neighbourly spirit.
